Here in Knoxville, we’re in our second “false spring,” but my cold weather-loving pansies are bolting from the heat and our cars are dusted in pollen. “Real” spring is coming and the taste of warm weather has me simultaneously mourning the end of winter (I’m a cozy homebody girlie) and dreaming of summer.

But the rainbow haze of the blooming trees and the blossoming flowers also have me totally distracted from my seasonal ambivalence. Spring itself is a transitional season, and I find myself itching to transition my home along with it. Just in time, Walmart dropped its new spring decor line, and it’s got me drooling. Spring brings warmer temperatures, but it also brings those “April showers.” There’s nothing cozier than a candle flame flickering in amber glass when it’s stormy outside. And if you’re anything like me, lighting a candle makes any room more enjoyable any time, whether you’re preparing dinner in the kitchen, settling down for movie night in the family room, or enjoying some early morning reading on the couch. The lavender and lemon scent of the candle fits the season, because you can’t be sniffing pumpkin spice or balsam fir when the cherry trees are blooming.

The second I saw this pedestal stand, crafted of beautiful acacia wood, I knew I’d get one (or a few). Stands like this are one of my favorite decor items because they make anything left out on a surface look deliberately placed. I use pedestals like this for candles, as a plant stand, or to hold utilitarian items like a scrub brush or a bar of soap. Pedestal stands like this are surprisingly hard to find when you want one, so I like to keep them on hand for the next time I buy a cute little plant or yummy smelling candle.
