8 Home and Food Trends the BHG Editors Can’t Get Enough Of Right Now

Welcome to Bookmarked—a collection of ideas, trends, and products our editors can’t stop thinking about. These of-the-moment ideas are all things we saw, loved, and saved for later—and we think you’ll want to, too.

From the internet-famous two-ingredient bagels to flower arrangements made with produce, these fresh ideas have our editors buzzing. Whether we discovered them at Design Week in Paris or from a TikTok sent to the group chat, we’re sharing a collection of ideas that have inspired us lately.

Rattan Reigns

“After flying to Paris for Design Week, I’m happy to report that rattan will be everywhere this year—inside and outside, on furniture, lighting, and accessories—and it’s now officially considered season-less decor.”

Produce x Floral Arrangements

Our editorial team can’t stop watching Glenn Arvor effortlessly pair bright florals with fresh produce for colorful and unexpected displays. His social videos—like this one, which features tulips and peonies in a ‘vase’ of yellow and orange peppers—are always fresh and creative, proving you can turn just about anything into a seasonal centerpiece.

The Power Sconce

Little sconces are trending in a big way, and this one from Pooky makes it easy to jump on the bandwagon. It’s dimmable, rechargeable, and remote-controlled—no wires required! Style bonus: The cordless design makes it easy to place these small lighting options anywhere in your home.

Real-Life Still Life Paintings

“As an art history nerd from way back, I was stopped in my tracks by Florida artist Noah Verrier’s oil paintings of Big Macs, Cheetos, and PB&Js. The contrast between his Old Masters painting style and his lowbrow subject matter is so striking and clever. What I wouldn’t give to own his painting of a McDonald’s diet Coke but alas, it sold (and no doubt way over my budget). So I’ll have to settle for his calendar, which hangs in my kitchen. His signed prints are also quite affordable at $50 to $100.”

The Skirted Cabinet Comeback

Talk about a renaissance. Pleated and patterned cabinet curtains are popping up everywhere, like in this space from Caroline Gidiere’s new book, A Life in Good Taste. A nod to cottage style or a classic corner bistro, a cabinet skirt or cafe curtain can solve a multitude of problems. You can even pop one on the front of a piece of furniture, like an open media cabinet or shelf, or at the base of a sink to hide clutter. Try the trend at home with a tension rod and curtain rings.

The Return of Hobby Decor

Knitting, crochet, and embroidery aren’t just your Grandma’s pastimes anymore. Grown-up hobbies are having a major moment right now, and we especially love that the finished products double as home decor. These modern embroidery kits, which come in a variety of charming maritime motifs, like this sardine tin from Hook, Line, & Tinker, are a favorite of Oma Blaise Ford, our senior executive editor.

The Two-Ingredient Bagel

These buzzy breakfast carbs have been all over social media again this year, and for good reason. The dough has just two ingredients—self-rising flour and Greek yogurt—there’s no proofing or boiling, and they’re ready in about half an hour. A finishing flourish of flaky salt or everything bagel seasoning is optional, but adding this recipe to your baking repertoire feels obligatory.

Well-Seasoned Style

The latest pieces from the Better Homes & Gardens collection at Walmart are redefining indoor-outdoor style. With their painterly motifs, interesting shapes, and natural materials, these gorgeous pieces are worth using year-round. Pair durable melamine plates (that look like hand-painted ceramics!) with wine glasses featuring chunky silhouettes with a retro-cool feel. To add instant texture to the table, reach for our woven place mats and warm, goes-with-everything neutral pinstriped tablecloth.
