8 Women You Should Know Who Are Leaving Their Mark on the Design World
Many of us have a favorite interior designer or two (or five) that we turn to for inspiration again and again. But there are exciting new designers coming on to the scene every year so if you’re looking for more inspiration to add to your list of design favorites, we’ve got you.
We’re highlighting eight female designers who are making a mark not just on the spaces they create but on the design industry too. Their styles range from pared-back elegance to colorful maximalism, and everything in between.
Chances are you haven’t heard of any of these designers yet but each of these pros are worth checking out and having on your radar.
Hema Persad
Born out of the belief that the most sacred place on earth is the place where we live and create, Sagrada Studio (sagrada meaning sacred) was founded by principal Hema Persad in 2022. Persad was an attorney for many years before moving to LA and becoming a fashion stylist. Seven years later she pivoted to interiors when one of her styling clients asked for help in decorating their home.
Though very new to interior design, Persad is already making a mark in this industry in residential and commercial spaces. Her design style is led by her clients’ functional needs and their unique life experiences, all brought to life by her own sense of eclectic beauty.

Katie Hodges
Ukrainian-born, LA-based designer Katie Hodges is the founder and creative mind behind Katie Hodges Design, which focuses on residential interiors. Hodges is a self-taught interior designer with an intuitive feel for design that she honed and developed with experience.
Hodge’s designs strike the perfect balance between modern and traditional while never compromising on comfort and accessibility. Never ones to follow trends, Hodges’ interiors feature earthy neutrals and natural textures, ensuring that they stand the test of time while feeling warm and welcoming.
Kerri Pilchik
Interior designer Kerri Pilchik is relatively new to the interior design scene, but she’s already making an impact. After practicing law for 14 years, she decided to pursue her lifelong passion for interior design and founded Kerri Pilchik Design in 2021.
Pilchick’s designs lean towards a chic classic style with bold color and pattern playing a big role in her interiors. Thanks to her law background she gained a lot of client service experience, which makes for a genuinely client-focused experience at her design studio.
Brianna Hughes
Brianna Hughes, principal and founder of Brianna Hughes Interiors, started her work life as a professional photographer after studying this discipline in New York and Paris. Living in these two cities inspired and grew her love for all things design and architecture, but it wasn’t until she renovated her own home that she fell in love with the design process and started her design firm.
Brianna’s style can be described as moody maximalism with restraint. Dark colors are paired with rich textures like velvet and lots of natural materials like marble and wood. The result is highly elevated spaces that still feel homely and warm.
Leah Ring
If your style leans very bold and colorful, look no further than Another Human, a multidisciplinary design firm founded by Leah Ring, which specialises in residential interiors and furniture design. After spending a decade developing and refining her visual style while working with other design firms, Ring launched her own design studio in LA.
Ring’s design approach is unconventional and eclectic, resulting in one-of-a-kind spaces that are both playful and polished. Bright colors feature heavily, often colors that seemingly break all the design rules, but it’s this unique approach that makes her designs stand out so much.
Delia Kenza
Inspired by her grandmother’s exquisite taste, Kenza was drawn to interior design at a young age. Despite this, she began her professional life as a lawyer and it was only after she renovated her own home several years later that she launched her design firm DeliaKenza Interiors.
Based in Brooklyn, NY, DeliaKenza Interiors specializes in complete renovations of urban homes. Kenza’s designs feature bold, clean lines, natural materials, and neutral tones that are enhanced with carefully chosen color accents. Her inspiration always starts with learning about her clients so she can showcase their culture and heritage in their homes.
Maggie Dillon
Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, Maggie Dillion is the founder of Maggie Dillon Interiors. Dillon started her interior design journey straight out of college, gaining experience by working for other local designers. In 2020, she branched out on her own to provide a more approachable and personal design service.
Dillon’s design style blends the charm of traditional cottage aesthetics with modern elements to create a fresh and timeless space. A carefully curated mix of colors, textures, and patterns feature prominently in her designs. Dillon’s work is fast gaining recognition and is often featured in regional and national publications.
Melissa Lee
Taiwanese-born Melissa Lee’s path to interior design was anything but linear. She studied psychology and pursued a career in luxury goods before turning to design. But it was precisely this background that drew her to interiors because designing dwellings for others allowed her to observe human life and connect with it on a deeper level.
Lee’s multidisciplinary design firm, Bespoke Only, stands out for its “new romantic” aesthetic. Whether dark and moody or light and bright, all of Lee’s designs have a quiet luxury about them, meaning there are lots of layers and interest but never too much.
