Check Your Freezer: Trader Joe’s Recalls Acai Bowls Due to Potential Plastic Contamination

Trader Joe’s has recalled a popular frozen treat—its Organic Acai Bowls With Berries, Banana, Granola, and Dried Coconut. The retailer posted a recall notice on its website stating that the product may be contaminated with plastic.

Trader Joe’s initiated the recall on February 14. The notice states: “Out of an abundance of caution, please discard any Trader Joe’s Organic Acai Bowls, as the product may contain foreign material (plastic), or return them to your neighborhood Trader Joe’s store for a full refund.”

The retailer did not include affected lots, UPC codes, or sell-by dates for the recalled products in its announcement. Trader Joe’s has removed the product from shelves and has not disclosed any reported injuries.

Those with the recalled product in their freezers should throw it out immediately, regardless of when it was purchased. If you have any health concerns following consumption of the product, you should consult your healthcare provider.

Anyone with questions regarding the recall can contact the company’s customer relations by calling 626-599-3817 or filling out the customer feedback page on Trader Joe’s website.
