Anne Hathaway’s Straight-Off-the-Plane Outfit Featured This Genius Travel Style Hack

Here’s the thing: When I travel, I want to be comfortable. I won’t sacrifice that. After all, five-plus hours in those small, crammed seats wreaks havoc on my knees and back, so the least I can do is wear buttery-soft sweats to lessen the pain. However, that’s not to say I don’t always want to look stylish, especially for important occasions; when I met my now husband’s parents for the first time, it was a straight-off-the-plane type of situation, and I only wish I had thought of Anne Hathaway’s genius travel look before that.

Anne Hathaway.

Hathaway was photographed on a film set during a very springy New York City day. For the occasion, the actress was wearing a business-comfy look (wait for it!) that makes for the perfect do-it-all ensemble, including travel. The base of the look was a light pink sweatsuit, complete with a crewneck sweatshirt and sweatpants with classic cuffed bottoms. A fitting shoe for this would be sneakers, and that’s exactly what Hathaway reached for: Nike’s very rare, very expensive pink kicks. And, though certainly attention grabbing, it wasn’t her shoes that caught my eye—it was her black blazer.

Hathaway took her sweatsuit from living room-cool to boardroom-approved with the simple addition of a blazer (why didn’t I think of this?!). A simple black blazer, in all of its forms, from fitted to oversized, oozes elegance, so it makes sense that juxtaposing the refined topper with a low-key sweatsuit would be for a winning combo. You can have comfort and style (plus warmth) in one easy-to-create look that’s suitable for everything.

I especially like the idea of wearing this for my upcoming travels because, well, it’s everything I want in a comfy airport look and more. I can still bundle up in my favorite, buttery soft sweatsuit for the long-haul flights, but I’ll also be ready for whatever my destination throws my way. (A possible chance encounter with Hathaway herself?  Hey, I’m manifesting!) Not to mention, a blazer is a great topper for those tricky transitional days; it’s warm, but not too warm, and when you get too hot, you can simply throw it over your shoulders without having to lug around a coat.
