Hallmark is known for its rom-coms with repeat stars like Alison Sweeney trying to keep her marriage alive while renovating an old house (and yes, this actually happened in The Wedding Veil Expectations!). And now you can watch one popular Hallmark star renovate houses in real life, HGTV-style, but with a touching twist and more heart. 

Hallmark heartthrob Luke Macfarlane is teaming up with Atlanta-based interior designer Olivia Westbrook on a new home renovation show, Home Is Where the Heart Is. The six-episode series is a new venture for the Hallmark brand and combines its signature emotional storytelling with real-life renos.

About Hallmark’s New Show Format

The show is set in Atlanta and features Macfarlane and Westbrook, who help families redo a particularly meaningful room, hence the title emphasizing the sentimental nature of home. The room or home could be inherited or include family heirlooms that need to be saved and reintegrated. 

“We want to incorporate who you are into what we design,” Macfarlane said to a family in the show teaser. In another clip, he added, “I want to do something with this house that honors her dad.”

The co-hosts work together to marry the past space—and all its emotional weight and memories—with a newly revamped but still very special space.

What Viewers Think So Far

The first two episodes dropped on March 20, and viewers already have positive reviews. On Westbrook’s post about the launch, one commenter said, “Watched both episodes early this morning, and both were truly outstanding, Liv!”

“I just watched the first episode! WOW! Beautiful! You are amazing, Luke! On to ep 2,” commented another fan. The other comments were filled with warm messages to the cast and excitement for the remainder of the season.
