Organic Modernism Is the New Modern Farmhouse—and Boosts Home Values by $12,500
When it comes to what home features buyers want in 2025, there’s one aesthetic that wins out over everything else—and it’s no longer farmhouse.
Homes with organic modern style sell for more, according to Zillow. Those with natural materials that focus on organic statement finishes can sell for up to 3.5% more than estimated. That means your home could potentially go for over $12,000 more than it would’ve otherwise with just a few extra design features. If this style appeals to you (or you’re looking for an excuse to give your space a refresh for the spring), here’s how to get it.
How to Achieve Organic Modernism in Your Home
“Organic modernism is the new modern farmhouse,” Zillow’s home trends expert Amanda Pendleton said in a press release. “The contemporary look of homes today is characterized by natural stone, wood flooring and cabinetry, and textured walls. Buyers are seeking out and competing for homes with these raw but refined finishes, and that’s pushing up sale prices.”
Must-Have Kitchen Features
It can be overwhelming to choose from all the different counter materials, but perhaps this will make the decision easier: According to Zillow, natural soapstone in the kitchen has grown to be even more popular than the old favorite quartz countertops. As the focal point, it brings a muted, nature-inspired feel into any kitchen. Walnut cabinets were also a major hit among buyers—so if you’re a fan of moody, woodsy designs, then this type of cabinet should be your go-to.
Surprisingly simple, a pot filler is another feature that brings the value of your home up significantly, correlating with a 2.2% increase in value. Plus, if you already have nearby plumbing, adding a pot filler is easy. Creating a blended and earthy finish is key for incorporating it into your home organically.
Matte black and brushed gold finishes are still a staple of kitchen design, so keep that in mind when working out the details of your decor.

Consider a Wet Room
As for the bathroom, spa-inspired luxury bathrooms aren’t going anywhere—but there’s another layout that’s likely to get you a much higher value: Wet rooms are the new spa bathroom in 2025. While Zillow estimates that a spa bathroom can improve your home’s value by 0.6%, a wet room helped boost the selling price by 3.3%. They give you the same natural and luxurious feel as a spa bathroom, but everything is waterproof, providing a more updated and organic open-concept space.
Shower Outdoors Increase Value
The backyard is important to buyers, too, and specifically, an outdoor shower contributed to rising values of 2.8%. To create a cohesive look, blend the tile you choose for your outdoor shower with the rest of your patio space. Natural stones or nature-inspired tiles help carry the organic modern aesthetic throughout your yard.
An outdoor kitchen is unsurprisingly another major bonus for buyers—having one could increase your home’s value as much as 2.2%, according to Zillow. These are especially key luxuries for homes with large outdoor spaces, pools, or those that are located in warmer climates. A bluestone patio is another feature worth investing in; its subtle hues bring a clean but natural feel to your backyard.
