Costco Just Recalled a Popular Snack Item Due to Potential Contamination—Here’s What to Know
If you’ve recently purchased beef sticks from Costco, you might have to take another look at them. According to a recent statement issued by Chomps—a beef jerky manufacturer—on March 25, 2025, Chomps’ Original Beef Sticks have been recalled due to the potential presence of a foreign material. “The issue was discovered after Chomps investigated two consumer complaints reporting the potential presence of metal fragment[s] in the meat stick product,” the statement says. “There have been no reported adverse reaction[s] or injuries, and this internal recall was initiated as a proactive measure out of an abundance of caution.”

The recall follows a previous notice by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA) on March 20, 2025, where 29,541 pounds of ready-to-eat beef stick products were recalled due to foreign material contamination. The statement was issued by Chomps’ parent company, Idaho Smokehouse Partners, LLC.
