The cowboy-centric universe that Taylor Sheridan created when he introduced the world to the Dutton family appears to be ever-expanding. Yellowstone captured audiences from the jump and we didn’t stop watching until the final frame of the last episode of season five. 

During the successful run of this series, Sheridan introduced two prequel series, 1883 and 1923, and we already know that the story of the Dutton family will continue in some form with the spinoff featuring Beth Dutton and her beau, Rip Wheeler (played by Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser). 

But now, it is being reported by Puck and TVLine that Beth’s younger brother Kaycee Dutton will also be the subject of a spinoff and that this series is currently in development with CBS. 

Puck is reporting that it will be a procedural series focused on Kaycee Dutton’s life, presumably his next chapter, after he and his family have moved on from the family ranch. Fans of the original show hope that this means we will also see more of Kaycee’s home life and that Kelsey Asbille and Brecken Merrill will also reprise their roles as Monica, Kaycee’s wife and Tate, Monica and Kaycee’s son. 

For those that have not seen the final episodes of the series, spoiler alert: As the original series came to a close, the Dutton ranch was given back to the land and to the people who originated the land. Kaycee, Monica, and Tate were at peace and appeared hopeful for the future in their new home on East Camp with their own cattle. It definitely seemed like a set up for a brand new start for this branch of the Dutton family tree.
