Nothing sounds as good as packing your bags and hitting the road for a nice, long summer vacation. In fact, last year, an estimated 118 million Americans hit the road and skies for a summer trip–and this year all the hottest destinations are going to be in the South according to a new report.

Online travel agency, Booking.com, announced 2025’s top trending US destinations based on year-over-year search and booking growth and they’re all located in Southern states.

According to Booking.com search data from June 1–September 30, U.S. travelers are looking to stay local, with the following destinations experiencing the highest year-over-year increases:

Another Southern hotspot that is capturing traveler interest this summer? Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, which has seen a 12% increase in booking growth year-over-year.

The survey also revealed that 21% of Americans said they plan to travel for an event in 2025 and that more ore than half (56%) of Americans travel to spend time together as a family and are choosing destinations that blend relaxation with entertainment.

The survey revealed that top destinations that check these boxes for families include Panama City and Pigeon Forge.
