There’s an active recall on approximately 22,672 pounds of sausage sold in 10 states, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). This is due to a foreign matter contamination.

The product affected is the Johnsonville Cheddar Bratwurst sold in five-piece, 19-ounce packaging. The bratwurst contains a code of B9FOD and establishment number reading “Est. 1647” on the package, and they were sold at grocery stores in the following states: Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin. 

Check your bratwurst, and if it matches the recalled information, dispose of it or return it to your place of purchase for a refund. The sausage is being recalled after two consumer complaints of finding “hard plastic” in the bratwurst product. If you experience any injury or illness after eating the recalled bratwurst, contact your healthcare provider.
