Designer Film Costumes
The Chanel-designed costumes for the musical film ‘The End’ bring a touch of timeless elegance to a story set in a luxurious underground bunker as the world above succumbs to climate catastrophe. This thought-provoking project, directed by Joshua Oppenheimer, stars longtime Chanel ambassador Tilda Swinton alongside Michael Shannon and Moses Ingram, exploring themes of love, honesty, and resilience.
Swinton, as a former dancer known as ‘Mother,’ dons 10 exquisite Chanel looks co-created with costume designer Frauke Firl. From a tweed suit with autumnal checks to silk pajamas and a standout red silk ensemble, her wardrobe embodies a quiet strength and defiance amid a crumbling world. Ingram’s apricot dress and cream suit, inspired by Chanel’s haute couture archives, symbolize her character’s assimilation into a fragile, delusional community.
Chanel’s involvement underscores its enduring connection to cinema, supporting ambitious storytelling with unparalleled artistry.
