Aldi’s Hot Chocolate Stir Sticks Are My Go-To White Elephant Gift This Holiday Season

Aldi is one of my favorite places to shop for affordable, tasty food, but the grocery store chain is also quickly becoming one of my go-to destinations for home decor, kitchen items, and even gifts. Yes, gifts!

And while there’s a surprising number of presents to choose from for your friends and loved ones, the Aldi gift I’m buying for the people in my life this year is none other than the apropos Hot Chocolate Stirrers. Each box comes with three stirrers—an adorable reindeer, a wide-eyed Santa, and a large present with a bow—and each one is made with deliciously decadent Belgian chocolate. More specifically, the reindeer is made with milk chocolate and bits of dark chocolate, while the Santa and present are made with mostly milk chocolate and a combination of dark and white chocolate sections. Additionally, each stirrer has red accents for just the right amount of festive flair.

So, what makes these stirrers a great holiday gift? In addition to being absolutely adorable, they’re the perfect example of something someone might not buy for themselves. Additionally, at just $3.99 per box of three, these stirrers are perfect for a white elephant party with friends or co–workers (especially if there’s a $10 spending limit, which is pretty common.)

If you’re not attending a white elephant party, use these as a stocking stuffer, a festive present for any chocolate-loving little ones in your life, or a cute host or hostess gift for an upcoming ugly sweater party or cookie decorating shindig. Plus, since these stirrers are moderately priced, you can take after me and purchase a box (or two) for yourself!

As if there wasn’t enough to love about these chocolate treats, they’re ridiculously easy to use. Since they come on the end of a wooden spoon, all you need to do is fill a mug with hot milk (plant-based or dairy milk works) and stir. As you stir, the chocolate will gradually flavor the milk. Just make sure your milk is hot enough so the chocolate can melt adequately.

The resulting cup of hot chocolate is sweet but not too sweet and acts as the perfect canvas for marshmallows, whipped cream, or any other toppings you like. And while it likely won’t be the best cup of hot cocoa you’ve ever had, it’s perfectly suitable for a cold winter day when you’re craving something sweet.
