
Buckingham Palace makes big announcement as King Charles welcomes special guests
Buckingham Palace made celebration as King Charles III welcomed special guests to the the Palace on Wednesday.
The royal family has shared stunning photos on their official Instagram accounts with details as the monarch, who is also King of Canada, held an audience with Gregory Peters, Usher of the Black Rod of the Senate of Canada, and Senate Speaker Raymonde Gagne.
King Charles III’s office has released the statement: “At Buckingham Palace, The King has received the Usher of the Black Rod of the Senate of Canada and bestowed upon him a new ceremonial sword.
“The position of Usher of the Black Rod, which originated approximately 600 years ago, is a senior protocol officer in the Canadian Parliament. Their current responsibilities combine traditional, ceremonial and modern administrative functions.
“Mr Gregory Peters is the 17th Usher of the Black Rod since Confederation. The Speaker of the Senate of Canada, Ms Raymonde Gagné was also present.”
The King’s meeting with Canadian parliament officers comes amid ongoing trade tensions between Canada and the US.
