As we celebrate Holi with enthusiasm, chances are you will be indulging in the classic Holi delicacies. Classic Indian dishes like gujiya and thandai form the base of all Holi celebrations. While gujiya is a sweet dish, thandai is a classic drink that is made from a mixture of milk, nuts, seeds, and spices. Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar took to her social media to talk about the several health benefits of thandai.
Rujuta Diwekar has worked with numerous Bollywood celebrities, such as Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Karisma Kapoor, to name a few. Taking to her social media, Rujuta mentioned why we consume thandai at the onset of summer. She said, “Remember that most of the packaged drinks that claim to quench your thirst are dehydrating in nature and rob your body of the electrolyte balance. If you want the summers to be free of flatulence, acidity and bloating, you set that foundation with thandai.”

Rujuta mentioned how thandai is a gut-friendly drink and it aids in digestion by restoring the mucus lining. She also mentioned that the use of almonds, khus-khus, pepper, cardamom, saffron and saunf makes thandai a powerful energiser. She also added that this classic drink is rich in antioxidants.
