Chaitra Navratri 2025 Day 2 Maa Brahmacharini: Chaitra Navratri, also known as Vasanta Navratri, will be observed from March 30 to April 7 this year. It is a nine-day festival celebrating the nine forms of Goddess Durga. Each day is dedicated to a specific form of Maa Durga. Each day, devotees observe special prayers and rituals. The second day is dedicated to Goddess Brahmacharini, an unmarried form of Goddess Parvati.

Chaitra Navratri begins on the first day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar and concludes with the celebration of Rama Navami on the ninth day.

This festival holds great significance in India. Devotees observe fasts, perform pujas, and recite religious scriptures on the occasion.

According to Drik Panchang, devotees worship Maa Brahmacharini on the second of Navratri. They also observe a fast to seek blessings and perform a special puja.

From the significance of Goddess Brahmacharini to shubh muhurat, here’s all you need to know about the second day of Chaitra Navratri 2025.

In Maharashtra, Chaitra Navratri begins with Gudi Padwa, while in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, it coincides with Ugadi, the Hindu New Year.

Chaitra Navratri Day 2 Shubh Muhurat And Colour Of The Say

According to Drik Panchang, the Dwitiya tithi starts at 09:19 AM on March 30 and ends at 05:41 AM, Mar 31.

The colour of the day is white and the flower used to worship Goddess Brahmacharini is Jasmine.

The mantra to be chanted on this day is “Om Devi Brahmacharinyai Namah.”

Goddess Brahmacharini Significance

Goddess Brahmacharini is depicted as a peaceful and composed figure. She is seen dressed in white and walking barefoot. In one hand, she holds a rudraksha mala and in another an oblong water pot or kamandal. She has a calm face which symbolises purity. This depiction reflects her life of austerity, simplicity, and deep connection to Lord Shiva.

According to legends, Goddess Brahmacharini was born in Daksha Prajapati’s home. She did severe penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband. She went years having just Bilva leaves, flowers, fruits and leafy vegetables and slept on the floor.

She later stopped eating and continued her penance without food and water. Seeing her intense resolve, Lord Brahma gave her a blessing, and she became Lord Shiva’s consort.

Chaitra Navratri Day 2 Puja Vidhi

  1. Wake up early in the morning, clean the house, take a bath and start the puja
  2. Light an earthen candle in front of Goddess Brahmacharini and offer white flowers, vermillion or kumkum
  3. Offer any white sweets to Goddess Brahmacharini
  4. Chant mantras and recite Durga Saptashati Paath.
