Chaitra Navratri 2025, Day 6: Worship Goddess Kalaratri: As the sixth day of Chaitra Navratri approaches, devotees prepare to honour Maa Kalaratri, a potent embodiment of Goddess Durga. This year, Chaitra Navratri is being observed from (Sunday), March 30 to (Monday), April 7. The name Kalaratri, which translates to “darkness of night”, represents Durga’s furious might. She is riding a black donkey, which represents overcoming negativity. She is a defender who dispels bad spirits and gives followers bravery and power, despite her intimidating appearance.

Who is Maa Kalaratri? Know Significance

On the sixth day of Chaitra Navratri, also known as Saptami Tithi, Maa Kalaratri is one of the nine avatars of Maa Durga that are worshipped. The strongest manifestation of Goddess Parvati is Maa Kalaratri. It is said that the Goddess is in charge of Saturn. She has a dark complexion, mounts a donkey, and is shown with four hands: a sword and a deadly iron hook in her left hands, and Abhaya and Varada Mudra in her right.

Despite being the fiercest manifestation of Goddess Parvati, Goddess Kalaratri is famous for granting her followers anything they ask for and taking away their troubles and hardships.

Maa Kalaratri is said to shield her followers from all bad things. She is also called Goddess Shubhankari because of her fortunate influence. Maa Kalaratri is also known as Goddess Mahayogini and Goddess Mahayogishwari. Night’s Queen is her flower. Finally, worshipping Maa Kalaratri provides happiness and removes the negative impacts of planets in one’s life.

Maa Kalaratri: Date And Shubh Muhurat

This year, Day 6 of Chaitra Navratri falls on April 4, according to Drik Panchang.

Maa Kalaratri Puja Vidhi

  • Take a bath and change into fresh clothing, preferably black ones.
  • The image or murti should be placed in a clean puja space.
  • Light incense sticks and a diya.
  • Offer Maa Kalratri with flowers and puja samagri.
  • Say “Om Devi Kalratryai Namah” or other mantras of Maa Kalratri, or recite her stuti, which are devotional songs.
  • Use aarti, or the spiritual offering of light, to wrap up the puja.

Chaitra Navrarti 2025 Day 6 Puja Samagri

On Day 6, devotees should present jaggery or prasad made from jaggery to Maa Kalaratri in remembrance of her. On Saptami night, they should present sindoor, kajal, comb, hair oil, shampoo, nail paint, lipstick and two sets of all the items typically used in makeup as part of the sringar puja. While devotees use one set of the products as prasad for themselves, the second set is subsequently donated to temples.
