The history of Old Delhi’s renowned Paranthe Wali Gali is well-known and fascinating. It is said that this street was named after its delicious paratha shops. Over time, many shops have shifted or started selling new dishes, but three shops on this street are still more than 100 years old. From Prime Ministers to Bollywood celebrities, many famous names have stopped by to taste their delicacies.
The first shop is famous by the name of Baburam Devi Dayal, the second by Pandit Kanhaiya Lal Durga Prasad Dixit, and the third by Pandit Gaya Prasad Shivcharan. Big politicians and megastars have all stopped at these shops to taste parathas.
The owner of a 150-year-old shop named Pandit Gaya Prasad Shivcharan, shared with Local18 that several famous personalities, including Indira Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, had also enjoyed parathas at his shop.
Prashant Tiwari, the owner of another famous shop named Pandit Kanhaiya Lal, told Local18 that prominent figures, including former deputy prime minister Babu Jagjivan Ram, and celebrities like Ranbir Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali, have visited this shop for its parathas.
Price
The shopkeepers said the taste of the parathas here is exceptional, and the prices are not too high. You will need to spend between Rs 90 and Rs 300 to enjoy parathas.

If you want to visit Paranthe Wali Gali, you can go anytime between 10 am and 10 pm. To reach there, get off at Chandni Chowk Metro Station on the Yellow Line. Once you exit from Gate No. 1, you will find Paranthe Wali Gali towards Chandni Chowk.
