Costco Just Recalled a Popular Brand of Protein Bars—Here’s What to Know

Costco just announced a recall on a variety pack of protein bars, according to their recall page. This is due to an undeclared allergen in the product.

The NuGo branded protein bars being recalled come in an 18-count variety pack and contain two flavors: Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip and Dark Chocolate Pretzel. The recalled packs were sold from October 2, 2024, through November 20, 2024, in the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Vermont, as well as Washington, D.C. The affected protein bars have a best-by date of December 22, 2025, or December 23, 2025, and lot number B24235A, B24235B, B24236A or C24236A printed on the box.

While the packaging claims that these bars are vegan, there may be undeclared dairy in the product. Those with dairy intolerance or allergies may experience a reaction after consuming one of these protein bars. In serious cases, this can include anaphylaxis, causing symptoms like hives, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, tightness of the throat or cardiac arrest. If you are showing signs of anaphylactic shock, call 911 immediately.

Those with questions about this recall can email recall@nugo.com or call the company at 888-421-2032 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST Monday through Friday for more information.
