Everything to Know About Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid’s Son Jack Quaid

Hollywood has no shortage of nepo babies, but few are genuinely able to step out of the shadow cast by their very famous parents. Among them? Jack Quaid, who has quickly proven himself to be just as worthy of the spotlight as his mother and father, Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid.

“Who I am comes with a certain expectation,” Quaid told the New York Times in a profile. “There’s definitely a need to prove myself. There is a little bit of something with identity and thinking, do I have any value outside of them?”

It’s a rhetorical question, of course, but the answer is a resounding yes. With starring roles in films like Companion and Novocaine already under his belt, and plenty more coming his way, Quaid’s future looks exceptionally bright. Ahead, everything you should know about rising star Jack Quaid.

Quaid auditioned for The Hunger Games after his first year of college at New York University (he later dropped out to pursue acting full time). The 18-year-old won the role of Marvel, a minor villain and the male tribute from District 1. The next year, he reprised his role for a brief flashback in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Following his debut, Quaid landed the role of Hugh “Hughie” Campbell in The Boys, an Amazon Prime TV series that has been streaming since 2019. He played a supporting role in the historical drama Oppenheimer, and starred in both Companion and Novocaine.

“I just talked to him last night. His movie’s number one. I mean, that’s incredible, really great,” Dennis Quaid told People after Novocaine topped the box office in early 2025. “He certainly deserves it. He’s just getting started. You haven’t seen nothing yet when it comes to him.”

He has three younger half-siblings.

Quaid’s parents separated in 2000 and finalized their divorce in 2001. Meg Ryan never remarried, but she did grow their family when she adopted a daughter, Daisy, from China in 2006. “I always thought I’d adopt, and at various points, I was on the brink of it,” Ryan later told the Sunday Times. “But it was particular to Daisy, I guess. I don’t know how events conspired to bring us together, but it was perfect.”

Dennis, meanwhile, remarried twice. He tied the knot with Kimberly Buffington in 2004 and the couple later welcomed twins Thomas and Zoe in 2007. The couple split in 2018 and Dennis married his fourth wife, Laura Savoie, in 2020.

Quaid and Doumit met on the set of The Boys when the actress joined the cast as the supervillain Victoria Neuman in 2020. Since then, the pair have kept their romance relatively private. Doumit offered a rare comment on their working relationship in 2024, the same year they made their red carpet debut at the Academy Awards.

“It’s always so much fun to work with Jack,” she told Decider. “He gives you so much. And it’s almost hard not to laugh because he’s such a riot. So whenever it’s a serious moment, you always just kind of have to laser focus when the scene begins.”

In an exclusive interview with E! News, Dennis Quaid shared the sweet story behind his son’s name—and his famous namesake.

“I just got to L.A. and my brother got a part in a movie called Missouri Breaks,” the Parent Trap actor recalled. “So I drove my brother’s car up to Montana. My very first movie set, I’m watching these actors, my real heroes. We hung out at Jack Nicholson‘s house every night. He and Randy were good friends….They gave me a lot of encouragement,” he continued. “And that’s a true story that we named him Jack after that.”
