Gigi Hadid is opening up about co-parenting with her famous ex, Zayn Malik. The supermodel and former One Direction star, who share their daughter Khai, dated off and on over six years from 2015 to 2021–and Hadid shared rare comments about approaching their new dynamic with “love” in a Vogue interview published March 11.

During her April 2025 cover story, the Guest in Residence designer revealed that her and Malik’s relationship is in a great place–and that their four-year-old daughter is already taking after her dad in the music department.

Hadid, who is currently dating Bradley Cooper, opened up about their partnership, sharing, “Zayn and I do our custody schedules months in advance. That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t change here and there, but we help each other out and have each other’s backs.” 

While she and the “Dusk Till Dawn” singer are no longer romantically involved, she said their new relationship includes “love and a feeling of camaraderie,” especially when monitoring how much of their private lives they choose to publicly share.

“There is the hard part of the world knowing this much, and thinking they know everything. And at the end of the day, we’re not interested in giving everyone our whole story,” Hadid explained. “What we are interested in is raising our daughter together, with so much respect for each other, and not just as co-­parents, but what we’ve been through together.”

The runway star also shared how motherhood has changed her and allowed her to “grow together” with her daughter Khai. She told the publication, “For a lot of moms there’s this perfect image of what they’re supposed to be and how it needs to go.”

“You wake up and do your best and you realize it is enough, and there’s a beauty in not necessarily knowing exactly how that’s going to go,” she continued. “I think that’s a huge lesson that I needed. And probably one of the reasons that Khai came to me.”
