Gwyneth Paltrow Weighs In on Meghan Markle Entering the Lifestyle Space with Her Brand As Ever
As Meghan Markle’s brand As ever joins Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop in the lifestyle space, Paltrow opened up to Vanity Fair about her feelings on the Duchess of Sussex.
In a cover story released March 18, Paltrow said she’s supportive of Meghan’s ventures, telling the outlet that when “there’s noise about certain women in the culture, I do have, always, a strong instinct to stand up for them.”

“I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes,” she added. “I think there’s always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try.” Paltrow added that her mother, actress Blythe Danner, told her around age 19—after she lost out on a role she coveted—that “Another woman is never your competition,” and “what is right for you will find you.”
Mentioning a dig Martha Stewart made at her expense as Goop entered the lifestyle space, Paltrow pointed to Oprah Winfrey as someone who also championed women, agreeing to appear as the first guest on Paltrow’s The Goop Podcast. “And then you have someone like Oprah that’s like, ‘Of course I’ll be your first podcast guest.’ That’s how I try to be with other women,” Paltrow said.

Speaking of Winfrey and Meghan, Paltrow is neighbors with both in Montecito, California. At one point in her Vanity Fair interview, Paltrow asks “Why is there a drone over my house?” mentioning of herself, Winfrey, and Meghan and husband Prince Harry, “It’s three for the price of one up here.”

Though Paltrow and husband Brad Falchuk reportedly had dinner with Meghan and Harry (along with Cameron Diaz and her husband Benji Madden) at a Montecito sushi restaurant in May 2023, Paltrow told Vanity Fair, “I don’t know Meghan and Harry. I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all.”
“Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie,” Paltrow added.
