Hania Aamir criticised for celebrating Holi | The Express Tribune
Pakistani actress and model Hania Aamir sparked mixed reactions on social media after sharing a post celebrating the Hindu festival of Holi.
Hania Aamir posted a picture on Instagram with a traditional ‘bindi’ on her forehead, alongside two other women, extending Holi greetings to her followers.
Quoting an anonymous saying, she captioned her post: “A wise man once said, see no evil, hear no evil, so I choose not to speak evil. Happy Holi to those celebrating!”
However, her post did not sit well with some users. A critic asked, “When was the last time you prayed?” while another questioned, “Why the need to adopt Hindu culture?” Some accused her of seeking attention and engagement through controversy.
On the other hand, Hania Aamir also received support, with users arguing that a bindi is part of regional culture rather than a religious symbol. “We should participate in each other’s traditions to bridge divides,” one comment read.
The debate reflects broader discussions on cultural exchange and religious sensitivities in Pakistan’s digital space.
