How Selena Gomez turned Benny Blanco into a ‘true’ Taylor Swift fan
Benny Blanco might be late to the Taylor Swift fandom, but he’s all in now — thanks to fiancée Selena Gomez.
During their appearance on Hot Ones this week, the music producer admitted he wasn’t a die-hard Swiftie until Gomez introduced him to more of her music.
“She did get me into [Swift’s music],” Blanco, 37, confessed. “I honestly didn’t know… before we started dating like obviously, I was aware of like Taylor Swift’s music but I wasn’t like a true Swiftie until I was with [Gomez] — no, I didn’t know.”
Gomez, 32, has been close friends with Swift, 34, for years, so naturally, she made sure Blanco got a proper introduction. Now, he’s hooked.
“I’ll be like, ‘Put that song on. How’s that one go again?’ And like we’re in the car, and I’m like, ‘Wow I’m just, like, singing Taylor Swift songs from like 10 years ago, and [I] feel free,’” Blanco shared.
Gomez nonchalantly responded, “They’re timeless. What can I say?”
The couple also shared a funny moment from a past Swift gathering, recalling how they once arrived too early to one of her post-awards show parties.
“Apparently cool people don’t show up to parties on time,” Gomez laughed as Blanco joked, “You show up when, like, my mother shows up to a party.”
Blanco and Gomez dropped their collaborative album, I Said I Love You First, on March 21. And according to Gomez, Swift has already given it her stamp of approval.
“That’s always a win because she’s always honest,” she said in a February appearance on Stationhead.
