The White Lotus season 3 finale is almost here. And honestly, it can’t come soon enough—because naturally, we are all dying to know how it ends. Although there have been plenty of fan theories flying all over the internet, the team behind the cult show could not have been more careful when it comes to spoilers. In fact, according to executive producer David Bernad, they even distributed “fake endings” to ensure no plot details were leaked in advance.

“We have fake endings to the scripts,” he told People ahead of the Sunday night finale. “So we wrote up—we have six different endings—and we kind of distributed fake endings to people just in case someone leaked anything, and then we could say there’s different fake endings.”

He also revealed how the final moments of the season were filmed in secrecy. “And then when we shot the ending scene, it’s a locked down set,” he went on. “So no one really has access to what we were shooting and there would be no non-White Lotus participants ever seeing what we’re doing.”

Naturally, fans are anxious to finally know how the season will end—and although the team has been extra careful, a few cast members have let some tiny details slip. Aimee Lou Wood, aka Chelsea, told The Times that she is “scared to watch” the final episode after revealing that her character has a “controversial” ending. Meanwhile, Sam Nivola, who plays Lochlan, teased that his character’s ending wasn’t what he’d call “satisfying.” Then there was Parker Posey, who portrays Victoria Ratliff—she revealed that she doesn’t even remember who dies.

Still, it’s not an awful lot to go on. All we know for sure? Thanks to Michelle Monaghan, we can say with certainty that it definitely wasn’t the monkeys.
