I Have Thin, Frizzy Hair, but This Hydrating Treatment Leaves It Smooth and Shiny

I Have Thin, Frizzy Hair, but This Hydrating Treatment Leaves It Smooth and Shiny

My goal is to have perfect hair (my husband says I already do, but hey, I’m my biggest critic). As I’ve learned, nothing can be perfect-perfect—and that’s okay. So, I’m aiming at a best-it-can-be type of situation. When it comes to my hair, heat, pollution, and stress have all wreaked havoc on it, but I’m on a mission to make it as healthy, shiny, and strong as possible. A balanced diet is key, of course, but a slew of key products I’ve added to my lineup have been game changers in the frizz departments, too; most notably, Ouai’s best-selling leave-in conditioner that’s leveling up my summer beauty routine with two mere spritzes.

The Jen Atkin-founded brand’s leave-in conditioner is nothing new, but what is new is the limited-edition St. Bart’s scent, which I’m utterly obsessed with, for the simple fact that it smells like a vacation in a bottle. And, while I’m busy planning an actual summer vacation, this will do. Incredible scent aside, this multi-tasking leave-in has totally changed the way I think about a leave-in conditioner. Preface: I have thin, fine hair, so anything I use on it will, more likely than not, weigh it down. Because of this, I’m very careful about what I use on it, but a recent frizz fest had me desperate for some help—and Ouai’s formula offered exactly what I needed without leaving a greasy aftermath.

The leave-in spray does it all, which means it detangles for easy combing, fights frizz, prevents breakage, and offers heat protection (I don’t need that latter because I don’t use hot tools anymore, but still a bonus!). Its formula is packed with good-for-your-hair essentials like tamarind seed extract that strengths, vitamin E that hydrates and increases shine, and amino acids that fight frizz and prevent breakage. Sounds like exactly what I need.

Using it is simple; I applied two sprays about six inches away on damp hair, gently combing from mid-hair to ends with a wide-tooth comb to disperse the formula. I let it air dry, as I always do, and unlike other days when I skip any sort of product, post-Ouai leave-in, the top of my head—which is usually ridden with flyaways and frizz—was silky smooth. My hair also felt softer and more manageable, and when I brushed my hands through it, I didn’t get caught in any tangles. As a cherry on top, my husband commented on my hair, asking what I did because it looked extra shiny and golden that day. “Thanks, it’s Ouai,” to which he said, “Ouai cool.” (He’s good with words, like me.)

Like most people, I tend to get the most “ugh” moments with my hair come summer, when heat, humidity, and harsh sun rays are at their peak. But, now that I already know that Ouai’s leave-in will solve all these frustrations, I’m way more excited about the season ahead. Of course it’s coming with me on every vacation, and of course I’m stocking up on a few more bottles because I can’t imagine my hair care without it anymore.
