I Lived in These Comfy-Yet-Elevated Sweatpant Trousers During My 2-Week Europe Trip

Some people overpack underwear, others fill Ziploc baggies to the brim with beauty products. I, however, notoriously overpack pants. I know, it’s odd. So, when I traveled abroad for two weeks last month, I challenged myself to pack only two pairs (seriously!). The J.Crew Pointelle Pant saved the day—and my style. Between its classic wide leg, elegant ankle length, and eye-catching pointelle fabric, even well-dressed Parisians stopped to admire my look that was secretly comfy, too.

The pants have a drapey fit that skims the body, which keeps them from being too tight or so loose that fashionable Parisians mistake the sleek pants for sweatpants (mon Dieu!). The best part, though? J.Crew designed the super comfy pants that are officially my go-to travel staple with an elastic waistband and stretchy cotton material, making them comfortable enough to curl up in while I smashed myself into tiny train seats and hustled to my gate.

Since the weather varied in the three different cities I visited, I also appreciated the lightweight material. Plus, the breezy cotton allowed me to easily layer coats and cardigans over the pants for extra warmth without overheating when temperatures warm up mid-afternoon. Another versatile aspect is the length, which stops right at my ankle and looks flattering with all my shoes, like loafers, ballet flats, and kitten heels

Beyond this, the pants performed well even when I put them through the ringer (think: shoving through tourists on planes, trains, and the Champs-Élysées). The pointelle never stretched, the hems didn’t snag once, and there was zero fabric pilling. I’m also convinced these pants are the most wrinkle-resistant item I own. Even after I shoved them into my backpack or folded them into a tiny square, when I unrolled them, they looked freshly ironed.

I own the pants in black (I’m a New York City girl, no matter where I go), but I’ll likely add the gorgeous ivory and navy shades to my cart, too. Below, shop for more comfy travel pants that’ll keep you looking put-together during your spring travels.
