I Tried Wayfair’s New Verified Program, and Online Shopping Has Never Been Easier
I won’t lie: I don’t know how anyone shopped for furniture and home decor before the internet.
While heading to a brick-and-mortar or your favorite antique mall has its perks that you can’t get from shopping online, “adding to cart” and being able to find exactly what you need is so convenient.
But too much choice, coupled with not being able to test out the furniture in person to assess the quality or materials, is definitely a downside.
That’s why I was so interested to try Wayfair’s new Verified section. Wayfair is known for their vast selection of furniture and decor at every price point and design style—but with so much choice, sometimes you just want someone to help you find the perfect piece for your needs.
The Verified program essentially gathers into one place all of the items on the site that have undergone a five-step verification process. These steps address the furniture’s packaging and assembly, quality, accuracy of the details on the product page, and how the quality and assessment matches with the product’s price.
Then the piece gets the “Verified treatment,” with additional videos and content to highlight the features—and gets a spot on the Verified page.
“We know that shopping for home products online can be overwhelming—customers shouldn’t have to guess if a sofa is comfortable or a table is sturdy,” said Jon Blotner, president of commercial and operations at Wayfair, in a press release.
“With Wayfair Verified, we do the testing so they don’t have to—sitting on sofas, assembling furniture, and evaluating every detail—so shoppers can feel confident, knowing we stand behind every selection.”
But would this program actually make online shopping less overwhelming? I figured it was worth a shot.
Trying Wayfair’s Verified Program
When you head to the Verified page, you’re greeted with a full page explaining just what goes into testing each item for quality and value.
When you click to shop all the Verified items, you’re taken to a page of over 5,000 pieces, which may sound like a lot, but it’s just a fraction of Wayfair’s full selection.
I needed a bench for my guest room that I was in the process of making over, so I filtered down to “Benches” and was immediately struck by how curated the product selections felt.
They all have the “Verified” badge on the image and have high-quality photos of the items in situ in a space.
Once I’d narrowed down the styles I was most interested in, I was almost immediately drawn to the Steven Upholstered 47″ Bench by Kelly Clarkson Home. But I’m not familiar with Kelly Clarkson’s home line, so being able to read the specs and know they were all backed up by testing was really useful.

Kelly Clarkson Home Steven Upholstered 47″ Bench
Wayfair
In the photos online, the bench looks really sturdy, and it was exactly the right color—a light olive green—for my guest room. The product listing claims the bench is plush, uses high-quality fabric, and is made from solid wood. But I’ve been disappointed by online purchases in the past, so I was healthily skeptical.
When the bench arrived, it looked exactly like the picture, from the color to the shape to the size of it in my space.
As for the price, at under $350, you’re definitely getting good value. It’s not a low-budget option necessarily, but for an upholstered bench in a stylish, modern shape and on-trend color, it’s a steal.
I’ve always been a big fan of Wayfair, and it’s my first stop whenever I need a new piece of furniture or decor for my house—and I can’t wait to keep using Verified to take the guesswork out of online shopping.
