I’m a Cynical Beauty Editor Who Tested 68 Products in March—These 12 Impressed Me
My depression is not seasonal, but I will say that the longer days and warmer weather are making me more sociable. This is only potentially relevant to you because it means I have more energy to test beauty products, including more social opportunities to test makeup. This is illustrated pretty clearly by the 68 beauty products (!!!) I tested this month, in contrast to the mere 47 of last month.
A lot of great makeup, body care, skin care, and hair care made their way past me. Narrowing this list down to just 12 products felt like the final elimination rounds on America’s Next Top Model. Below, you’ll find everything from noteworthy new launches (One/Size’s B12 Luminous Serum) to things I wish I had tried sooner (like Kulfi’s lip stain).
Best Editor-Loved Beauty Products of March 2025
Merit Signature Lip Liner
Merit
When people talk to me about lip liner, it’s usually about how intimidating it is for the average makeup user. Merit has made perhaps the first ever lip liner that has the approachability of a lip balm. It’s a dull, rounded tip with a satin finish, and the effect is more worn in and subtle than the high contrast options. It condenses the dozen lip products I have in my purse to just one thing—a.k.a., it can look like a tinted balm, lip stick, and lip liner.

Kulfi Lassi Lips Staining Lip Oil
I have a bone to pick with the entire makeup industry about colorism, but that’s for another time. For the sake of brevity, I will keep it to this—I have dark lips and thus lip stains never show up on my skin let alone stay put for hours. It took BIPOC-founded brand Kulfi to fix that.
The Lassi Lip Stains have a water-like consistency, the moisture of an oil, and the showing power of a liquid lipstick. They’re buildable so you can pick your finish and intensity, but regardless of your preferences, you’ll notice an actual stain that lasts hours.
Haus Labs Bio-Radiant Glassy Balm Highlighter Stick
Sephora
If I had more time, I’d be litigious about categorizing a product as a “highlighter.” It’s supposed to be a cosmetic product that catches light, makes skin dewy, and amplifies facial features, but most brands just take it to mean glitter.
We love Haus Labs because she is not that girl. This highlighter is for the real makeup lovers but is accessible for the layperson, too. I apply the balm with a cream eyeshadow brush, and it looks like my skin has been painted with glass. It’s almost unbelievable and I’m obsessed.
