Though supermodel Gigi Hadid and actor-director Bradley Cooper have been dating for over a year, neither have commented much about the details of their relationship, preferring to keep things low-key aside from the occasional photo op. But Hadid just revealed how they met and it involves exactly the superstar you think it does.

The pair first started their fling turned serious romance at the backyard birthday party of a mutual friend’s kid, according to a new cover story in Vogue. Okay, let’s check our notes: in September 2023, Cooper and Hadid each brought their daughters to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’s daughter Inez’s fashion-themed seventh birthday party, also attended by Taylor Swift. And while it wasn’t held in a backyard (unless you count all of Manhattan as a backyard, which some kinda do)…c’mon, this is it, right? Hadid and Coops were spotted getting dinner together less than a week later. I know kids have a lot of birthday parties, but it seems too close to be a coincidence. Another week after, we got reports that they were holed up in Swift’s Rhode Island house for a romantic getaway. According to Hadid, the reports that have trickled out about the pair are often “kind of right and kind of wrong,” so, grain of salt…but still.

Gigi Hadid told the outlet that their relationship is currently “very romantic and happy,” and that Cooper “has opened me up to going to the theater more, and that’s something that’s so nice to bring back into my life.”

“I respect him so much as a creative,” she added, “and I feel that he gives so much to me: encouragement and, just, belief. For those people you admire to encourage you, it can create so much belief in yourself. Like, what’s the worst thing if I auditioned for this? You jump and take the leap.” How nice!
