Jessica Simpson releases first EP in 15 years with jab at unnamed ex

Jessica Simpson releases new EP ‘Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1’

Jessica Simpson is making a comeback, with a jab at someone who may have hurt her.

The Irresistible singer, 44, has just released Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1, her first EP in 15 years, and it’s already making waves, landing in Apple Music’s top 10.

But aside from the excitement of her long-awaited return, fans couldn’t help but notice a pointed message in one of the tracks.

To celebrate the release, Simpson took to Instagram with a heartfelt post.

“I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free,” she wrote, referencing the gospel song His Eye Is on the Sparrow

“God told me I needed to feel the fear and do it anyway as I’m moving into my truth while embracing the beauty of uncertainty. And so I did….”

She went on to describe Nashville Canyon as the result of reconnecting with her voice, free from the constraints of industry expectations.

“It’s about surrendering, letting my voice be my main guide, and trusting the journey ahead,” she continued.

“Always inviting God into the room where music creates itself, with a voice that communicates on a spiritual level of grace without fear and allowing the music to be my main voice.”

Simpson also hinted at the deeply personal nature of the project.

“This project has kept me awake inside of my dreams,” she wrote. “It doesn’t get better than this moment right here, right now, sharing this creative intuition with y’all.”

And speaking of personal, one track in particular is turning heads.

The ballad Blame Me offers a raw, emotional take on a failed relationship—with lyrics that many believe could be a jab at an unnamed ex.

“Go on and blamе me / Go on and blame me / Go tell your mama, your friends / All at my expense / I couldn’t care any less if you shame me / Go on, blame me,” she sings in the chorus.

The bridge hits even harder:

“Blame me for the pain, for the shame / For the nights, for the days / For your guilt, for your emptiness / And your good, that it’s me / That is losing sleep / While you let me clean up all your mess.”

While Simpson hasn’t revealed who inspired the track, fans are already speculating.

Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1 features five tracks, including previously released singles Use My Heart Against Me and Leave. With this comeback, one thing’s for sure—Jessica Simpson is singing her truth, and she’s doing it on her own terms.
