On this day, devotees keep a fast, and Parana tithi is the auspicious moment to break the fast. The Parana Time is between 6:02AMto 8:34AM on April 9. In addition, on Parana Day, the Dwadashi end moment is at 10:55PM.

  3. Chant the mantra ‘Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya’, and clean Lord Vishnu’s statue in panchamrit, and offer him sandalwood, holy thread, clothes, perfume, akshat, flowers, sesame seeds, naivedya, seasonal fruits, incense sticks, betel leaves and coconut.
  4. Listening to the Kamada Ekadashi tale and performing aarti using camphor are also recommended.

  • Fasting on Kamada Ekadashi, which marks the start of the Hindi New Year, is said to protect devotees from various curses.
  • On Ekadashi, devotees should abstain from eating rich food and offer a special bhog to Lord Vishnu during prayer. They should only eat sattvic meals if they are forced to.
  • Fruits, dairy items and dry fruits are all permitted. After giving food to those in need, the fast should be broken the next day.
  • It is prohibited to eat grains, pulses, beans or peas. On this day, it’s also believed that tulsi leaves shouldn’t be plucked or consumed.
