Kate Middleton Shared an Unexpected Personal Message for Mother’s Day
Kate Middleton has shared a thoughtful message in honor of Mother’s Day in the UK. Instead of centering her message around her three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, the Princess of Wales took a more universal tone, turning her attention to “Mother Nature.”
“Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary,” wrote Middleton on Instagram. “This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognise how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves, but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life. The touching message was posted alongside a beautiful video featuring clips of the natural world, seemingly filmed near Middleton’s home in Norfolk. Amongst images of crashing waves on the Norfolk coastline, tiny ladybugs crawling up stems of grass, and flowers blooming in the sunshine, the video also included a couple of clips of Middleton herself—one that showed her touching a tree and wearing the same dress that she wore in her cancer update video from last September, and another that seemed to show her walking barefoot through the grass with two dogs.

Middleton has shown her love of nature on countless other occasions, lending her support to a number of projects that celebrate the natural world. In 2019, she worked on the “Back to Nature” garden in 2019 at the Chelsea Flower Show. Last July, while she was still undergoing chemotherapy treatment, the princess showed her support of the London’s Natural History Museum garden project, writing on Instagram, “I am hugely supportive of the Museum’s commitment to create a special space which encourages people of all ages to reconnect with nature and learn more about how we can protect our natural world.” She added, “I know the power of nature to support our development and well-being, both by bringing us joy and helping to keep us physically, mentally and spiritually healthy. I hope these gardens will be inspiring and transformative for the thousands of people who visit.” Apparently, Middleton also loves to garden at her own home, too.

Middleton’s Mother’s Day post this year marks a notable shift from last year’s message. In 2024, Middleton’s Mother’s Day post was her first statement since her surgery in January 2024. “Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months,” Middleton wrote. “Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day. C.” The message was posted alongside an image of Middleton sitting outside surrounded by her three children. Many people soon noted that the photo bore several Photoshop inconsistencies and the Associated Press even removed the image from their platforms. Middleton eventually explained that she had edited the photo herself as “amateur photographers” often do.
