I have no problem admitting that I am addicted to trench coats. The Inspector Gadget comparisons give me zero doubt whenever I choose to wear one, which is nearly every day in the spring and fall. Whether it’s a white leather version or a borrowed-from-the-boys olive green one, no trench coat escapes me. But year after year, they start to look boring—the same double-breasted look with the same belt as always.

But Kendall Jenner‘s latest look gives me hope of a trench renaissance this spring.

On March 24, the supermodel was spotted in Paris wearing a standard springtime uniform: a beige trench coat, blue jeans, and black ballet flats. She accessorized the outfit with a black Hermès Kelly bag and matching sunglasses. While the look is a standard formula for spring, her trench coat is anything but traditional. Instead of the usual collar and single belt, Jenner’s coat included a high neck featuring an additional belt detail. The sleeves were also not-so-traditional baring bubble-like volume.
