Leslie Bibb’s ‘White Lotus’ Ear Lobe Bob Serves Chic With a Hint of “Karen”
Parker’s Posey’s accent is, without a doubt, the most iconic thing about this season of The White Lotus—but Leslie Bibb’s sleek little bob comes in a close second. Already, the blunt, super short cut has earned legendary status. As Bibb put it best herself: “Some people have The Rachel, and I have the c*nty little bob.” Her flawless ‘do was, in fact, courtesy of Chris McMillan, the very same stylist who came up with The Rachel for Jennifer Aniston all of those years ago.
McMillan recently shared a behind-the-scenes video of the already-iconic trim on Instagram. “Ummmm can you say iconic??” he wrote in the caption. “@mslesliebibb and I are always trouble together now let’s see the ‘c*nty little bob’ become the look of the year with color by @traceycunningham1 Doing this look for @mslesliebibb was so much fun don’t think I didn’t try to get some easter eggs from her but tight lips she didn’t reveal a THING…surprise surprise Sam Rockwell.” (Bibb is married to Sam Rockwell who made a surprise appearance in the show last week.)
Bibb commented on the video, writing, “Thank you for always making it so fun and effortless to help me find some new person to be…you’re the GOAT.”

Speaking to Elle, McMillan went into a little more detail about how he achieved the look. As he explained, he wanted to create a style that would require minimal upkeep while Bibb was filming in Thailand, but also a look that suited Kate, Bibb’s conservative, Texan character. Inspired by Patricia Arquette’s True Romance press tour look, he came up with a precise “ear lobe” bob that hinted at Kate’s “Karen” tendencies, while still looking just chic enough. “It’s an A-line, Vidal Sassoon bob,” he said. “There are no layers in it. There is no texture in it, other than the bottom bluntness of it, which makes it a little more cool and chic. It kind of flicks, not flips.” He added, “It’s perfect for the character.”

In fact, the “c*nty little bob” may have actually helped Bibb land the role. “I know another actress that was up for the job,” McMillan shared. “A lot of girls were reading for that part, and she wasn’t willing to cut her hair. I know that Mike White definitely wanted a shorter haircut for that character.”
McMillan went on to explain that the bob is ultra versatile. “You can part it in the middle. [Or] on the side, [or] you can flip it over and tuck one side back. You can tuck it behind your ears,” he said. “Just follow how they’re styling [Bibb’s] hair on the show.”

Bibb evidently loves her bob, too. In fact, she has been rocking the short look throughout the press tour for The White Lotus. Earlier this week, she took her bob out for a spin in a Stella McCartney skirt suit. As McMillan said himself, “Can you say iconic?”
