Martha Is This A-List Actor’s Hero, New Podcast Episode Reveals

Martha has been teaching people how to perfect the “good things” in life for decades, whether it’s how to create a beautiful garden or host an elevated party for friends. By sharing her knowledge, she has become a hero to many, including actor Kate Hudson.

Martha recently sat down with the actor for an episode of The Martha Stewart Podcast to discuss Hudson’s new Netflix show, Running Point. In the show, Hudson plays a woman who must prove herself as a businesswoman when she’s put in charge of her family’s professional basketball team.

During the episode, Hudson greeted Martha by telling her she is her hero. “I’m so excited. I love you, Martha. You’re like my hero, just so you know,” Hudson said, adding that she’s very inspired by Martha.

Hudson has built a successful career as an actor, starring in films like Almost Famous (which she won a Golden Globe for), How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and Fool’s Gold. While she loves acting, Hudson told Martha she has many interests outside of show business.

When asked what her dream project is, Hudson said she has a “domestic side” she’s interested in exploring more of. “You really are one of my heroes. I have this domestic side of me … that I still don’t feel like I’ve tapped into,” she said. “At some point, I want to figure out what that really looks like.”

Another area of common ground for Martha and her guest? Working with Matthew McConaughey. Hudson and McConaughey famously starred together in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, while Martha and the actor just teamed up in a commercial for Uber Eats.

“So, I just worked with your co-star, Matthew McConaughey. We did a Super Bowl commercial together,” Martha said. In the commercial, McConaughey plays many different characters and Martha said he took getting into character very seriously. “He’s grunting and breathing and jumping up and down—that scared me!” Martha told Hudson.

In addition to chatting about acting and career goals, Martha and Hudson discussed all things pets, the Oscars, architecture, and more. You can listen to the episode now on Audible, Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms.
