Martha Stewart, Oprah, and Taylor Swift Are All in on This Comfy Anti-Jeans Style
As a fashion writer living in New York City, I always keep my eyes peeled for styles that pop up again and again on every block. These days, one of those styles is cargo pants, which are a laidback and versatile alternative to jeans. Celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Taylor Swift have sported pairs in the past, and this week, Martha Stewart became the latest star to give the trend her stamp of approval.

In a recent Instagram post, the media mogul wore olive green pants, a matching shacket, and sneakers—a practical outfit that I can definitely see myself recreating this spring. And, considering she wore cargo pants last summer, too, Stewart’s proven that these are a seasonless closet staple. Inspired by her look, I found several similar pairs of cargo pants on Amazon and Nordstrom, starting at just $28.

A near identical lookalike for Stewart’s style, these Levi’s baggy pants are on sale for almost half-off at Amazon. After spotting these exact pants on a friend’s Instagram story last week, I immediately added them to my wishlist. They have a straight-leg silhouette with a mid-rise waistband. Plus, the loose fit is perfect for those with comfort in mind.

If you prefer jogger-style cargos, these army green pants may be the better fit for you. The now-$28 pants are made from a soft and stretchy quick-drying material, and they have drawstrings around the ankles that allow you to switch between a tapered and straight-leg fit. Even better, the pants also include an elastic waistband, allowing for a more comfortable fit.

A true utility style, these Wit and Wisdom wide-leg pants are another close match for Stewart’s pair. The pants have a slightly flared silhouette, along with oversized pockets on both the front and back. They run more gray than green, making them ideal for those who prefer muted tones. Not to mention, they’re also available in light khaki and navy blue.
While Stewart opted for a monochrome outfit, I’ve seen cargo pants styled every which way as of late. My personal favorite way to wear the pants is with a flowy boho blouse to mix and match frilly and utilitarian styles. Cargo pants also make a great base for casual-cool springtime looks; just add on a white tee and platform sneakers, and you’ll be ready to run out the door.
