Milo’s Is Testing A Crispy New Side Dish You’ll Want Right Now
You heard it here first—beloved Alabama restaurant chain Milo’s is debuting something new this year: house-made chips. The catch? You can only get them at the Cahaba Heights location.
“They are a wavy chip—similar to the crinkle cut fry—seasoned with our famous fry salt,” Milo’s marketing director Mary Duncan Proctor tells Southern Living. “We added the chips to our catering menu only and we are testing them in Cahaba Heights to see if customers would like to see them on the everyday menu.”
It’s not the only new item gracing Milo’s menu, however. This year, the regional chain has deemed the Cahaba Heights location as a “test kitchen” to try out new menu items.

“We will feature new items every four to six weeks so we can receive guest feedback on the items and decide whether or not they are regarded highly enough to make it as an LTO (limited time offer) across all locations, or even as a permanent menu item,” Proctor says, adding that the first item Milo’s tested was grilled chicken tenders, a grilled version of the hot and juicy breaded tenders. “We knew that would make it to all locations because customers had been asking us for that option for quite some time now,” she says.
And after the grilled tenders and house made chips? Something to wash it down with, of course.
“The next test item on the list is strawberry lemonade,” Proctor shares. “It is not too tart and not too sweet. We believe it is a great addition to our drink lineup, but we want to see what our customers think before making that decision.”
The test kitchen concept is one that Milo’s is eager to share with the community and their biggest fans.
“We were always doing experiments with our products to try and come up with new and exciting items that we think our guests would enjoy, but now we can actually get their feedback before taking it to that next level,” Proctor says.
