I used to think flattering jeans were a unicorn in a herd of ill-fitting, stiff-feeling denim pants. It was Oprah who enlightened me (as she so often does) with the reality of buttery soft, ultra-flattering denim when she proclaimed jeans from NYDJ fit her “perfectly.”

I’ve since procured 7+ pairs of the made-to-flatter, ultra-soft, secretly stretchy pants. I’ve even recommended the brand to my 72-year-old mom, who has purchased two pairs thanks to the comfortable, fantastically-flattering fits. While it’s tricky to choose my favorite of its (arguably perfect) pants, I compiled four NYDJ styles I’m wearing on repeat this spring.

Marilyn Straight-Leg Ankle Jeans

My favorite of NYDJ’s classic cuts, the Marilyn jean has a straight leg, cropped ankle, and timeless appeal. I own the style in numerous hues, but this seasonally-apt pair is made for desk-to-dinner days thanks to the striped cuff. I pair the pants with a blazer and slingbacks for an elevated, nautical vibe that’s both office and happy hour- appropriate.

Teresa Wide-Leg Jeans

This versatile denim pant has proven ideal for work, parties, and casual springtime walks—hence why I own it in numerous colors. Its navel-grazing waistline has a flattering, cinching effect that looks extra stylish with a statement belt, while the wide-leg silhouette has a sophisticated, trouser-like appearance that elongates my legs. Add a silk blouse, boxy white T-shirt, or edgy corset-style bustier, and you have yourself an easy, flattering outfit for virtually any occasion. 

Coated Marilyn Coated Black Straight-Leg Jeans 

This coated-denim pant wears significantly breezier than similar, sweat-inducing, leathery-feeling trousers. Ergo, it’s the ultimate transition pant for spring (and, I’d argue, a seasonless staple with classic, timeless appeal). The fabric stretches enough to feel comfortable without overstretching throughout the day. Plus, it’s impossibly soft, and the subtle sheen of its finish adds an elevated, sexy edge to any look. The straight leg makes these pants versatile, while the mid-rise waitline smooths without constricting. Plus, the pants lift my virtually nonexistent derriere. 

Sheri Slim Ankle Jeans With Striped Cuffs

What better than a cropped pair of pants to showcase stellar sandals this spring? Better yet, this option nails one of the season’s top denim trends with its frayed-edge cuffs. As far as comfort, the pants rival my butteriest workout leggings, making them easy to travel in, too. FWIW, the jeans do tend to loosen throughout the day, though they snap back to their original fit after a quick wash.
