Prosenjit Chatterjee and Leander Paes turned muse for Roy Calcutta at the FDCI Showcase: The Boy’s Club.
Prosenjit Chatterjee and Leander celebrated their Bengal roots in fashion designer Roy Abhishek’s creations.
Actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, who has been receiving rave reviews for his pivotal role in the webseries Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, turned showstopper for Kolkata-based fashion designer Roy Abhishek. Joining Prosenjit on his Lakmē Fashion Week X FDCI runway debut was none other than Indian former tennis player Leander Paes.
The FDCI Showcase: The Boy’s Club saw Roy Abhishek, who also marked his Lakmē Fashion Week X FDCI debut with this showcase, see the two icons sashay the runway in traditional attire celebrating their Bengal roots.
Prosenjit Chatterjee, who turned showstopper for the show, was elated to make his runway debut with Roy Abhishek’s showcase and also have Leander Paes walk with him in the show. “It was a huge pleasure and was exciting to walk with Leander [Paes] on the same stage. This is my first time doing something like this. Thank you Abhishek for this opportunity. I am really proud of him. Bengal has a lot of handicrafts and talented people like Abhishek are presenting them on an international level. It is indeed a great moment,” expressed Prosenjit, who looked like royalty in a black jamdhani kurta paired with a black embroidered Mayur Puccha dhoti paired with a black velvet jacket.
Speaking about sharing the runway with Prosenjit, Leander, who opened the show looking sharp in a traditional achkan kurta, embroidered velvet shawl and the signature brocade Mayur Puccha dhoti, expressed how ecstatic he was walking the runway along with Prosenjit and celebrating India and Bengal through Roy Abhishek’s vision. “We are here to celebrate India and to bring the eastern part of India to fashion week. For me to come out and walk on stage with dada [Prosenjit] and to celebrate our West Bengal boy, Roy [Abhishek] is fantastic. I think we got a huge star in the making and Abhishek is going to represent India and West Bengal throughout the world and I am so proud of him”.
Roy brought Royalty on the runway! Every statement piece celebrated tradition and it brings joy to know that he is proud of his roots. “I always like to celebrate my roots and try and extract how much I can from it. I am someone who always believes in tradition. It was a lovely experience showcasing my roots and my ethics at the FDCI Showcase: The Boy’s Club,” shares Roy Abhishek.
