Queen Camilla proves her ‘strength, resilience’ amid Charles’ cancer battle

Queen Camilla has remained a steady force in the royal family as King Charles continues his cancer treatment.

After the 76-year-old monarch was briefly hospitalised last week due to side effects, Camilla stepped up once again, proving her “resilience and strength.”

“She is so strong, so resilient,” royal commentator Katie Nicholl told OK! magazine, adding, “She also has a great sense of herself and an ability to overcome all sorts of adversity.”

That resilience has been on display throughout Charles’s health battle. In addition to caring for her husband, Camilla has taken on royal duties in his absence, reassuring the public that the King is in good hands.

Since his diagnosis was made public in February 2024, she has maintained a full schedule of public engagements, standing in for Charles at key events.

Royal author Hugo Vickers pointed out how far Camilla has come in public perception.

“The thought of Mrs. Parker Bowles distributing the Maundy money 25 years ago would have been risible,” he said. “But there she was, the visible face of the monarchy.”

Beyond supporting Charles, Camilla has continued her work on issues like domestic abuse and children’s literacy. In May, she relaunched the Wash Bag Project for sexual assault survivors.

Royal photographer Arthur Edwards also credited her influence behind the scenes. “She calms down” Charles and “makes him laugh,” he noted.

Camilla’s unwavering presence has made her an essential figure in this chapter of the monarchy.
