Quinta Brunson filed for divorce from her husband of three years, Kevin Jay Anik, on March 19. The Abbott Elementary star cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split and listed the official separation date as “TBD.” According to People, the pair “entered into a postnuptial agreement which governs the disposition of their property.”

Brunson and Anik, a sales manager, met at a friend’s birthday party, as outlined in Brunson’s 2021 memoir She Memes Well. Brunson announced the engagement in July 2020 with an Instagram post that showed off her ring and bore the caption, “More good news.” They tied the knot in October 2021.

Although the pair only appeared together at industry events on rare occasions, Brunson did give Anik a few shoutouts over the years. In her 2022 acceptance speech for the Outstanding Writing Emmy, she said, “My wonderful husband…he’s the most supportive man I’ve ever known.”

That year, Brunson also opened up about her marriage during an interview with Oprah Winfrey. “My husband, that’s what I mean by him being the biggest support, that there is no need to dim me at all,” she said. “That allows me to love him fully and be the person that I want to be and am meant to be.”

In 2024, when she took home another Emmy, she once again called out her husband in her speech, saying, “I love my husband. I’m so happy. I love my cast. Oh, I love Abbott Elementary. Thank you so much.”
