Rachel Zegler reveals touching childhood connection with Disney
Rachel Zegler shared a nostalgic relationship with Disney in a new interview after the release of her live-action remake of Snow White.
The 23-year-old actress, who plays the protagonist in Snow White, shared that she inherited the love of Disney from both of her parents, Gina and Craig Zegler.
During her appearance on Good Morning America, on Thursday, March 20th, Zegler said, “I’m a product of two really amazing Disney fans whose wedding song was A Whole New World from Aladdin.”
The Hunger Games star added that her recent project has been both “a homecoming to my inner childhood” for her and “so special” for her parents.
Zeggler went on to share that her parents are excited to see the movie for the first time on its release date, March 21st.
Gushing about playing the Disney princess, she said, “[Snow White is] the first Disney princess that Disney ever created in the 1937 film. To get to bring her to life in such a unique way and such a special way, it’s just a beautiful opportunity.”
The remake, however, has some changes which sparked some controversy but Zegler explained, “[Snow White’s] superpower remains her heart. That’s always been at the core of this story [and] it’s the core of the Disney company.”
The actress shared that her true reward has been seeing the fans enjoy the movie. “It makes me really weepy and emotional,” she said of all of the young fans, adding that the movie is “for the inner child in all of us but also for this actual next generation that sits in front of us.”
