Social media trolls Riyan Parag after fan invades pitch to touch his feet | The Express Tribune
The Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati witnessed an unexpected moment on Wednesday during Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2025 match against Kolkata Knight Riders. A passionate fan breached security, sprinted onto the field, and touched RR stand-in captain Riyan Parag’s feet in an apparent act of admiration.
The incident occurred as Parag was preparing to bowl his fourth over. Security personnel quickly intervened, removing the fan from the field, but the brief disruption sparked discussions about stadium security.
While the moment highlighted Parag’s popularity in Assam, it also raised concerns over safety measures at high-profile sporting events.
KKR dominate Rajasthan Royals
Beyond the pitch invasion, the match was a one-sided affair as KKR secured a convincing eight-wicket victory.
Quinton de Kock, replacing Sunil Narine at the top of the order, led the chase with an unbeaten 97 off 61 balls. His composed innings guided KKR to their target of 152 in just 17.3 overs on a sluggish pitch.
Rajasthan Royals, still reeling from their record-breaking 286-run concession against Sunrisers Hyderabad, struggled again. Their batting unit faltered, while their bowling attack, led by Jofra Archer and Fazalhaq Farooqi, failed to contain KKR’s chase.
Social media trolls Parag
The pitch invasion quickly became a trending topic on social media.
While some fans celebrated Parag’s growing stature in Assam, others questioned whether the incident was staged.
Some users speculated that the fan was paid to enter the field, while others criticised the lack of security. IPL fans also trolled the Parag, questioning his credentials.

Parag addressed the occasion post-match, saying, “Very proud and humbled to lead this franchise. I started at 17, and the management has shown faith in me.”
Another video making the rounds on social media shows the pitch invader just prior to the incident.
For Rajasthan Royals, the defeat marked their second consecutive loss, leaving them at the bottom of the points table.
With Sanju Samson’s availability uncertain, RR must address their shortcomings to stay in the tournament. Their next fixture presents an opportunity for redemption, but they will need a major turnaround.
Meanwhile, KKR’s commanding victory puts them back on track after their opening loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. With momentum shifting in their favour, they will aim to build on this performance as IPL 2025 progresses.
