Starbucks’ Secret Cherry Matcha Latte Tastes Like Spring
Earlier this month, Starbucks launched what might be my favorite seasonal menu yet: Their new Iced Cherry Chai has everyone buzzing—if you haven’t tried it yet, do yourself a favor and hit the drive-thru right now—and the Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha is the perfect sweet treat for spring.
And while I love both new menu items on their own, Starbucks missed an opportunity for the ultimate spring drink combination: a cherry matcha. This morning, I decided to take matters into my own hands and ordered an iced oat milk matcha with the cherry foam—and it deserves a permanent spot on the menu.
The combination of creamy matcha with the sweet tang of the cherry foam is *chefs kiss*, and it truly could not taste more like springtime in a cup. It’s bright and fruity, but not too sweet. If you love the classic earthy matcha flavor, this secret menu item strikes the perfect balance.
How to Order a Cherry Matcha at Starbucks
To order this fruity specialty drink, ask for an iced matcha latte however you normally take it. For instance, I’ll often ask for it with only half the usual amount of sweetener. If you want a milk substitution, such as almond or soy milk, ask for it now as well. Then, ask your barista to put the cherry cold foam on top.
For example, here’s how I ordered mine: “Can I get an iced oatmilk matcha latte, and add cherry cold foam to the top?”
Because the cherry foam is a seasonal menu item, it won’t be around forever. And while the summer Starbucks menu never disappoints, I’ll be ordering this springtime favorite for as long as possible.
