These Were the 8 Best-Selling Paint Colors of 2024

The numbers are in: Timeless whites, soft neutrals, and nature-inspired greens were last year’s best-selling paint colors. We asked paint companies to share their most purchased colors of 2024 and noticed a trend emerge: shoppers were drawn to clean, calming, and organic hues. The findings reveal that classic whites never go out of style, but they point to something else, too: In a busy and chaotic world, we crave tranquil environments to find refuge in.

The brands’ best-selling crisp and creamy whites, luxurious greige, and soft greens also highlight the recent popularity of biophilic design. Bringing the outdoors in and creating a connection with nature has been a growing trend, as evidenced by these top paint colors. If your walls, trim, or an old piece of furniture could benefit from a fresh coat of paint, try one of these customer-approved hues for your next DIY project.

Benjamin Moore: White Dove

Benjamin Moore’s best-selling paint color of 2024 is not a surprise—White Dove is a longtime customer favorite and one of the most popular white paint colors on the market. “It’s the quintessential neutral off-white, a fail-safe choice for any space,” says Hannah Yeo, senior manager of color marketing at Benjamin Moore. The soft hue has a subtle cream and gray undertone, which makes it warm without leaning too yellow and makes the shade versatile enough to pair with a warm and cool color palette.

“A well-rounded color, White Dove works seamlessly throughout the home, from walls and trim to doors and cabinetry,” Yeo says. It’s also a popular choice for exteriors, instantly boosting curb appeal and complementing a range of color schemes and architectural styles.

Sherwin-Williams: Pure White

Pure White has been Sherwin-Williams’ best-selling paint color year over year, and 2024 was no different. “This shade continues to come out on top given how timeless and versatile it is,” says Emily Kantz, color marketing manager at Sherwin-Williams. She describes it as the perfect neutral to any backdrop since it doesn’t leant too cool or too creamy. “Our lives are hectic and complicated, and simple whites like Pure White can be an uncomplicated and soothing alternative that homeowners crave in their spaces,” she adds.

Annie Sloan: Coolabah Green

Annie Sloan’s 2024 best-selling paint color Coolabah Green points to the recent popularity of biophilic design and nature-inspired interiors. “In the frantic unpredictable world we live in, more than ever we feel the need to connect with nature—and there is no other color that makes us feel more connected to the natural world than green,” says Annie Sloan, founder of the brand.

This soft and tranquil hue creates a calm and inviting space, it’s not too warm or too cool, and you can use it as a pop of color or treat it as a neutral. “It’s a gentle, uplifting color which works beautifully with natural materials like wood, linen, and rattan and is a wonderful addition to any space—in bedrooms it creates a serene environment, in kitchens Coolabah Green cabinets look fresh and modern, and in offices it brings a sense of calm,” Sloan notes.

Valspar: Dove White and Green Trellis

Valspar shoppers loved two of the brand’s shades in 2024: a creamy white and a calming green. “Dove White continues to be a go-to choice, offering a timeless, versatile backdrop that complements any style; However, we’ve also seen a significant year-over-year increase in interest in green hues such as Green Trellis standing out as a favorite,” says Sue Kim, director of color marketing at Valspar.

She shares that a classic and timeless creamy white like Dove White is a reliable choice for anyone seeking a soft and inviting atmosphere, while Green Trellis also has a tranquil effect, bringing a sense of balance into a space. “With cool undertones, this rich green shade draws inspiration from the outdoors, seamlessly blending the calming essence of nature with a modern, grounded aesthetic,” Kim says.

Farrow & Ball: Wimborne White

“It’s no great surprise that whites and neutrals continue to be our best-selling group for the fifth year in a row,” says Patrick O’Donnell, Farrow & Ball global brand ambassador. The brand’s number one best-seller in 2024 was Wimborne White, an off-white paint color that’s only a shade away from a pure white. O’Donnell describes it as a soft white with a subtle undertone of yellow which gives a very delicate appearance. When it comes to the continued popularity of light neutrals, the paint expert says, “Whichever way you choose to decorate, be it light or dark, whites and neutrals still dominate decorative choices as the go-to palette for ceilings and trim.”
