Attention chocolate lovers: It’s time to check your stash for this important recall.

This week, Tony’s Chocolonely Inc., a New York-based company, announced a voluntary recall of some of its chocolate bars due to the potential presence of small stones in certain products. The company stated on its website, “Whilst the chance of any individual product being affected is low, we have decided to take this step in order to ensure the safety and satisfaction of Tony’s Chocolonely consumers.”

The recall also impacts several countries. In the U.S. and Canada, the company clarified that the recall involves limited lots of two specific chocolate products distributed nationwide: the Dark Almond Sea Salt (6.35 ounces) and the Everything Bar (milk chocolate with caramel, pretzel, almond nougat, and sea salt) (6.35 ounces), with specific lot codes provided below. No other Tony’s Chocolonely products are affected.

The lot numbers for the Tony’s Dark Almond Sea Salt Bar include the following: lot code 4327 with the corresponding UPC 850011828564; lot code 4330 with the corresponding UPC 850011828564; lot code 4331 with the corresponding UPC 850011828564; lot code M4331 with the corresponding UPC 850032676441. All these products come with best-used-by dates of November 22, 2025, to November 26, 2025. 

Then there’s Tony’s Everything Bar, which includes the following codes: lot code 163094 with the corresponding UPC 858010005641; lot code 162634 with the corresponding UPC 858010005641; and lot code M162634 with the corresponding UPC 85001182890. All these products have best-used-by dates ranging from February 2, 2026, to April 2, 2026.

According to the chocolate maker, the bars were distributed between February 7 and March 24. No other products are affected in the United States, and no injuries have been reported in connection with the recall.

However, if you’ve recently traveled abroad and purchased a bar, you should be aware that the Melk Karamel Amandel Noga Pretzel Zeezout 180-gram bar in the Netherlands was also subject to a recall. Its lot number is 4333.

Food Safety News also noted that the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed portal issued an alert indicating that other affected countries include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

“Once we started to receive consumer complaints, we were able to trace the issue back to one of our almond suppliers,” Tony’s stated. “After further investigation, it appears that a new origin of almonds in a limited batch was insufficiently processed at the supplier’s factory, resulting in a risk of foreign objects — small stones — being present in the final products that were made,” said Tony’s Chocolonely.”
