Trader Joe’s Just Recalled One of Its Most Popular Frozen Food Items
Trader Joe’s recently recalled a popular frozen product due to potential plastic contamination—their Organic Acai Bowl. According to a statement issued on February 14, 2025, the company site stated that, “Out of an abundance of caution, please discard any Trader Joe’s Organic Acai Bowls, as the product may contain foreign material (plastic), or return them to your neighborhood Trader Joe’s store for a full refund.”
The Organic Acai Bowl contains strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and more fruity flavors that have made it a favorite among Trader Joe’s shoppers. While the UPC code and best before/by dates aren’t listed, Trader Joe’s encourages consumers to discard any related products immediately, regardless of the purchasing date. The company hasn’t reported any illnesses due to the plastic contamination.
Trader Joe’s has had only a handful of recalls since its opening in 1967. These items include canned tuna, baby carrots, frozen waffles, green onion, and certain ready-to-eat meat and poultry products. These products have been voluntarily removed from shelves alongside their individual recalls, including the newest frozen product on the list.
According to some Reddit users, the Organic Acai Bowl has only recently returned to stores and is produced by a separate supplier. “I skipped this today because I was worried the new supplier might not be good (like with some of the other products in the past year),” one user wrote.
If you happen to be stocked up on Trader Joe’s Organic Acai Bowls or have additional questions, the company encourages customers to contact them at (626)-599-3817 or send an email through their product feedback page.
