UPS Delivery Driver Saves The Day With Impromptu Wrapping Job

Not all heroes wear capes.

Some, like seasonal UPS driver Aubrie Jones Whitford who is being hailed a hero for saving a Christmas surprise, just believe in good karma.

At the start of her delivery shift earlier this month, Jones Whitford was given a Barbie Dreamhouse to deliver. She knew what was in the box because it was covered in the instantly recognizable hot pink Barbie lettering and an extra large photograph of the colorful house.

“I said to [the other driver], ‘you know, I wish they packaged it differently or, or I wish there was a way to cover it up,’” Jones Whitford told Southern Living.

Before she loaded the box into her car, Jones Whitford, who is also a chicken farmer, retrieved “chicken house paper” and painter’s tape and decided to do an impromptu wrapping job, covering up what was inside.

She also turned on her camera and filmed herself doing it and posted the video to TikTok.

“My santa spirit just could not deliver this to someones [sic] house + risk a little girl have this spoiled for her,” the post read.

The post has gained traction, receiving more than 1.8 million views and comments calling her a “real life angel” who is “doing the Lord’s work.”

Others shared similar heartwarming stories of kind ways their postal workers went out of their way to cleverly deliver presents in boxes that could’ve ruined holiday surprises.

“Even if they wanna put the pictures on the box, at least make the pictures just outlined in blacking on the cardboard box,” Jones Whitford said.

Jones Whitford concedes she has no idea who was receiving the Barbie Dreamhouse or if her extra effort mattered.

“I’m fully aware that the kid getting that gift might not even live at that house . . . It could be the grandparents’ house,” Jones Whitford said.

But she believes that it takes a village to raise a child and she was happy to be a part of the village that might’ve saved a Christmas surprise.

“There were times my family struggled and I remember as a kid, there were little tiny things people did that went a really long way,” she said.
