Val Kilmer receives latest ‘Top Gun’ tribute after Tom Cruise
Val Kilmer’s legacy lives on!
Another one of the Top Gun stars has joined the list of people who paid tribute to the late actor, who passed away on April 1 and starred as Iceman, the wingman to Tom Cruise’s Maverick, in the action film.
In an interview with BBC News, Barry Tubb, who played the character of Wolfman, who was the wingman to Kilmer’s character, said, “He was the coolest cat I’ve ever met.”
“Not only did he have great acting chops, but he was funny as hell,” he further said of the late actor.
The 62-year-old also recalled his time at the set of the 1986 movie and revealed, “He had the first video camera I’d ever seen. They got so tired of telling him to turn it off on the set of Top Gun that they finally just let it go.”
“We had a fun time with it because we tried to catch everyone on the toilet with the video camera. That was our goofing around. So, there’s video somewhere of everyone with the door open on the toilet. We were goofballs,” Tubb recalled fondly.
This comes after Tom Cruise paid a tribute to Val Kilmer at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas for CinemaCon 2025.
As per Variety, the 62-year-old iconic actor said, “I’d like to honor a dear friend of mine, Val Kilmer.”
“I can’t tell you how much I admire his work, how grateful and honored I was when he joined Top Gun and came back later for Top Gun: Maverick,” he added.
The Mission Impossible star continued, “I think it would be really nice if we could have a moment together because he loved movies and he gave a lot to all of us. Just kind of think about all the wonderful times that we had with him.”
“I wish you well on the next journey,” Tom Cruise said in conclusion of his tribute to Val Kilmer.
